Armed with my digital camera and Hero Honda scooter I took to the streets of Punjab for a three day visual fest of wall to wall graphic gratification. I don’t usually have the time to do this when I am over there, but I made a promise to myself that this time I would spend a good few days exploring this beautiful side of India’s urban canvas. The strange looks I would get from the local people, all trying to understand why I would want to photograph a piece of signage or faded letterform. But, I just love this work. The texture of the paintwork, vibrancy, even the distressed eroded paintwork peeling off the wall made my mouth water. It makes me smile. To me, this is ‘art’, Indian street art.
